Welcome to the Year 4 class page. Miss Housden and Mr Hunter will be working in Year 4 this year. On this page, you will find information about the curriculum and year group expectations in Year 4. We will be aiming to update the website regularly with photographs and information about what is going on in our classroom this year.

Our PE day is Wednesday and we will be going swimming on Tuesdays. Our homework will be set on Tuesdays and returned into school on Mondays.

Sparks Might Fly!

This Autumn Sparks Might Fly as we learn all about electricity in science an make our own quiz boards in DT! We will also be continuing to learn to play the Glockenspiel in music and reading The Firework Maker’s Daughter in English.

We have learnt how to make circuits to light up a light bulb, and how to use switched in those circuits. We used this knowledge in DT to make our very own light up quiz boards!

The Great Plague!

This half term we are learning all about The Great Plague in history, including making our very own plague doctor masks. In geography, we are learning all about our environment and how to protect it. Science is all about sound this half term, and we will be learning how sound travels and how to change the pitch of a sound. In English, we will be reading The Pied Piper, and writing our own narrative based on the story. 

Passport to Europe!

This half term we will be studying a region in Europe in geography. We have chosen Bavaria! In DT, we will be making passport holders using lots of different sewing techniques, and in music we will be learning to sing and play along to Blackbird by The Beatles. In English, we will be writing our own narrative based on Gulliver's Travels, and using our research about Bavaria to create a flip book information leaflet!
