Welcome to the Year 1 class page. Here you will find information about the curriculum and year group expectations in Year 1 as well as lots of photographs of the children in and around the setting.

Cress Heads

For our topic studying plants, we have been busy planting and growing Cress Heads. Look at how much they have grown! 

Printing

We have produced beautiful flower prints. We created unique prints by designing our flower images and experimenting with colour mixing. It was great fun! 

Emotions

Year 1 have made super models to show emotions. We enjoyed changing the features of our models to show different emotions. 

Observational Drawings

Year 1 have been using their observations to draw pictures of plants. We focused on using the correct colours to ensure our plants looked realistic. We also looked closely closely at the plants and thought about how they were different to each other. 

The Great Fire of London

As part of our topic 'Fire! Fire!', Year 1 built Tudor houses. We burnt them and thought about how the people may have felt during the Great Fire.  We learnt about how the Fire Brigade has changed from then to now! We had a fantastic time!

Penguin Models

Year 1 have used clay to create a model of a penguin.  The children looked at pictures of penguins and used their observations to paint their models.             

Trip to Blackpool Zoo

Last week, we had a fantastic time visiting Blackpool Zoo. We saw lots of different animals. What a great day!
