EYFS
At Appley Bridge All Saints' Primary, we believe in providing a wonderful start to every child's learning journey. Our goal is to ensure all children achieve great things by learning and growing together in a happy, nurturing environment. We focus on giving them the skills, knowledge, and understanding they need to succeed and, most importantly, develop a lifelong love of learning.
Our Vibrant Curriculum & Approach
-
Holistic Learning: We offer a challenging, broad, and balanced curriculum where all seven areas of learning are equally important.
-
Play and Direct Teaching: Our teaching is a dynamic blend of play-based exploration and direct, focused teaching. This balance allows children to "live life in all its fullness" by making discoveries while building foundational knowledge.
-
A Balance of Approaches: Children engage in a mix of child-led exploration and adult-led small group activities. This is delivered through a vibrant continuous provision that spans both our indoor and stimulating outdoor learning environments, fostering a sense of fascination and curiosity about the world.
Prioritising Well-being and Success
-
Happy Learners, Great Progress: Your child's well-being is paramount. We know that happy, secure learners are best placed to make excellent progress.
-
Individualised Starting Points: We carefully consider every child's starting points and individual needs when they join us, ensuring a differentiated curriculum that truly caters to them.
-
Building Cultural Capital: Our EYFS curriculum is designed to equip pupils with the cultural capital—the essential knowledge, skills, and understanding—they require for future success.
-
Embedding Learning Habits: Crucially, we focus on embedding the right habits for learning through the Characteristics of Effective Learning:
-
Playing and Exploring
-
Active Learning
-
Creating and Critical Thinking
-
Partnership with Parents
We strongly believe in working collaboratively with parents and carers to encourage the development of independent and enthusiastic learners. Your partnership is vital in supporting your child as they begin their exciting school life with us.

For those who may not know, the ‘Step Outside’ award is a prestigious quality mark that recognises excellence in outdoor provision for Early Years. It is only given to schools that demonstrate an outstanding commitment to using the outdoor environment as a vibrant, rich space for learning, discovery, and play.
This achievement is a huge testament to the hard work of our dedicated Mrs Bullen-Hales, our curious and adventurous children, and our supportive families. Thank you to everyone who has played a part in making our outdoor spaces so special. ![]()
